Wal-Mart The Best Company In The World 2011

USA's largest retailer, Wal-Mart again has been named the best company in the world in 2011 by Fortune magazine, which was released Tuesday (12 / 7). The second position of the world's best companies 2011 also re-occupied by the Dutch oil company Shell.

U.S. retailer Wal-Mart is still solid as the best company in the world according to Fortune and Global, for two consecutive years. The case of gender discrimination issues that had rocked the company is apparently not very influential, especially the U.S. courts have rejected class-action lawsuit by former female employees of Wal-Mart.http://www.facebook.com/

CEO Michael T. Duke, apparently succeeded in making this company as an example of a sustainable business. Wal-Mart released a sustainability index in 2009 and then in the framework of accountability to consumers, about the authenticity of products, and provides access to more transparent information to customers. But the issue of gender discrimination by Wal-Mart already circulated widely, and could tarnish the image of the company. Sales fell in the U.S. also contributed to the decrease in profit margins of this company.

While Shell has not been able to follow Wal-Mart. Two years earlier, the Dutch's oil exploration company was the best company in the world to beat Wal-Mart, but now Shell still have to settle for being in second position.

CEO Peter R. Voser successfully bring a net profit of this company until it reaches 61% for the period 2010, compared to previous year 2009. Revenue in 2010 reportedly reached 20.5 billion U.S. dollars. Along with the excellent financial performance, the company's share price posted a solid increase. During the year 2011, Shell's share price has recorded an increase of 7.2%.

Although it was originally an oil exploration company, but along with the depletion of oil supplies in the world, Shell sought to develop alternative energy. In 2010 the company has signed an agreement with the Brazilian biofuel company Cosan, to cooperate in the production of sugarcane ethanol feedstock.

Shell is also developing technology to build the first floating liquefied gas fields, which will hopefully provide technology benefits to the company if it is to mine the gas supply in the deep waters. This project will be invaluable to the Shell site in the Gulf of Mexico and offshore Brazil.
